HBSAO Launches Community Partners Program
COMMUNITY PARTNERS (CP) is the way local HBS clubs turn Harvard’s SOCIAL ENTERPRISE initiative into performance-improvement projects for NOT-FOR-PROFIT organizations.
Every HBS alumnus in our area (MBA or Executive Program) is eligible and invited to become a member or leader of a volunteer team, to work with NFP organizations.
CP has been proven over many years in the larger clubs. Hundreds of HBS alumni teams have worked with hundreds of NFP clients for 20 years. Most HBS team volunteers say that this work is the most productive, fulfilling, and educational giveback effort they have ever participated in. They sign up for more projects and bring their friends into CP. Based on their record of success and client feedback, Harvard is encouraging and assisting other local clubs to launch their own CP initiatives.
Your club leadership is pleased to sponsor CP as a major priority.

THE BOTTOM LINE: THE LOGIC BEHIND THE SUCCESS OF COMMUNITY PARTNERS
For NFP’s: The Need is Urgent – The Time is Right.
- Contributors to NFP’s have drastically decreased their support – well before 2009
- They have been weeding out NFP’s who cannot produce for their clients the results that were promised in their requests for grants
- Even those NFP’s with urgent and laudable missions often don’t have the management capacity to meet this new standard and face the prospect of losing their donors
FOR HBS ALUMNI: We Are Well-matched to Help
- HBS Alumni have a long history of commitment to NFP’s – donations, board membership, advice
- But many are frustrated that they don’t have a way to impact problems and opportunities
- What the CP Process offers is a proven method of positioning ourselves in the right organizations, with clear and welcomed accountability to help achieve significant results. The administrative tasks of matching NFPs and HBS teams, contracting projects, and coaching the team through a productive consulting process are handled by the HBSAO staff.
