Spencer Sherman talk on Money Madness

All Ivy Alumni reception with author and top-rated financial advisor Spencer Sherman speaking on the current economic crisis and the money madness that both inspired it and is the ongoing result of it.

Event Date: Wednesday, February 25th, 2009 at 5:30pm

Spencer Sherman Wharton '87, is the author of The Cure for Money Madness to be published by Random House in February. He will share his insights about the current economic crisis and the money madness that both inspired it and is the ongoing result of it.

What is money madness?

Long before the subprime credit crisis brought home the devastating consequences of our reckless financial behavior, America was in the grip of a "money madness" epidemic. For years, millions of otherwise rational people bought mortgages they could not afford, splurged unthinkingly on credit cards purchases, or chased "hot" investment tips from friends or cable TV pundits that promised overnight wealth, trading in common sense in favor of instant gratification with predictably disastrous results.

Rated by Worth magazine as one of the top 100 wealth advisors in the U.S. for the past four years running, Sherman shows how to tame the emotions that rule our money lives so we can achieve greater prosperity and peace of mind. The book also offers a practice, Witness InvestingTM, which decreases emotional reactivity, leading to decreased portfolio volatility, which results in financial peace as well as more money. The Cure for Money Madness is a powerful antidote to stress and unhappiness, struggle and fear. Especially now, with the economy so precarious, Sherman's book inspires relief, ease, and even joy.

Spencer is the founder and CEO of Abacus Wealth Partners, a celebrated fee-only financial advisory firm. He has consistently produced exceptional returns for his clients over the last 20 years. The Cure for Money Madness reveals his highly successful Rainbow Portfolio(tm) investment strategy.
